The prisoner defiantly stares down Heinrich Himmler, Hitler’s right-hand-man, who was responsible for the Holocaust. Greasley’s confrontation with Himmler took place during an inspection of the camp he was confined to. The inmates were ordered to remain seated, but Greasley refused. Horace Greasley also escaped the death camp, but sneaked back in to rescue a German woman whom he had fallen in love with.

this is amazing

Wait it gets better, he escaped from the camp 200 times to meet with the woman he was in love with and returned after every time because there was no other place to go to. He also wrote an autobiography omfg this dude is seriously awesome

why hasnt this got more notes, seriously this guy was in a concerntration camp and all you guys reblog is fluffy chickens

This is not Horace Greasley. Just a tumblr fantasist with a soppy half arsed history of the real Greasley (who sneaked back in? Rosa was not in a POW camp). No prisoner would have survived disobeying an order while Heinrich Himmler was on site, this prisoner would have been called for inspection.. So sorry the shirtless man in the Red Army cap is not the British prisoner of war. Please go back to fluffy chickens or pictures of cats.

Today marks 5 years since we lost my little brother David. Typically I only realised last night I have chosen to move on this day, so that should make it even more fun. What I will say though is.. There was this one time where all afternoon we could hear banging and all sorts of noises coming from up stairs. We went upto discover he had destroyed the spare single bed and re-created it as a desk with nails and cello tape. He was about 9/10 hahaha. Love and miss you as I’m sure every person who ever met you has done, everyday, not just this one day a year.
